This course introduces students to the field of International Criminal Law (ICL), which governs the prosecution of individuals for international crimes such as genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression. It explores the historical development of ICL, the role of international criminal tribunals, and contemporary challenges in the pursuit of justice. Students will engage with doctrinal foundations, landmark cases, and debates surrounding the tension between justice, sovereignty, and peacebuilding.
